Confirmed...

ESPN College Football Recruiting On the Trail 2009

Quote:
Sarkisian on the board with commitment from Josh Moten
Rated as a quarterback but recruited as a receiver or defensive back, Josh Moten has become new Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian's first commitment, ESPN's Greg Biggins reports.

Sarkisian offered Moten a scholarship during an in-home visit. Narbonne recruiting coordinator Byron Moore Sr. said, "He committed almost right away. They offered him as an athlete."

Moten was recognized as a first team all-city performer this fall. As a junior, he threw for 2,129 yards and 16 touchdowns while also rushing for 837 yards.

West Recruiting Blog - ESPN

Quote:
Athlete Josh Moten (Harbor City, Calif./ Narbonne) committed back in December to Washington and appeared to have solidified it after his official visit to Seattle two weeks ago.

Moten, however, took an official visit this past weekend to Colorado and he said the visit gave him a lot to think about.

"I really liked it at Colorado, it was a great visit," Moten said. "The campus is incredible, I loved the coaches and it felt like a home away from home for me. The players on the team treated me like a little brother and I got the feeling that if I went there, they would really look out for me.

"Boulder is a really nice college town and the fan support they have is tremendous. My whole family went up there with me and they all loved it as well. Just like Washington, they're recruiting me as an athlete but said I would get first crack at quarterback and that's what I'm excited about."

So where is Moten at now in terms of his commitment to Washington?

"All I can say is check back later in the week," Moten said. "I'm not going to say where I'm leaning right now or if things are even between the two teams. I don't want to name a leader, I just need a few days to sort things out with my family and then at the end of the week, I'll be ready to make a final decision.

"I still love Washington and Coach Sarkisian is awesome. He's one of the best quarterback coaches around and it would be great to learn from him. I think both schools may come in for a home visit this week but right now, my plan is to have a final decision by the weekend."
