Spencer had received early offers from Kansas State, Texas Christian and Miami (Ohio).
“The facilities at Kansas are great,” Spencer told Rivals.com. “I’ve seen them, and I was very impressed with what I saw, but they didn't play a major part in my decision.

“One of the great things about Kansas is my relationship with coach Blaney (Brandon, recruiting coordinator, tight ends coach). I really like him a lot, and he is easy to talk with.”
