TE Will Middleton (6-5 245) of Marietta, GA has picked up an offer from USC, and the Gamecocks are strong leaders. Middleton said Gamecock recruiters Shane Beamer and Ray Rychleski were by his school today and made him the official offer. "I'm pretty interested in South Carolina," Middleton said. "It's SEC football, and I like the coaches, the facilities and the area. And my sister goes to school there. She's on the equestrian team." Middleton attended USC's spring game. He said he's close to a commitment and could make the pledge within a month, if not sooner. "My mind is close to being made up," he said. Middleton also has an offer from Rutgers, and he's drawing interest from Louisville, West Virginia, Maryland, Mississippi State, Georgia, Indiana and Florida. Last season Middleton caught 25 passes for 350 yards and two touchdowns.

Middleton called his recruiter, Shane Beamer, to make the pledge. Middleton was offered by the Gamecocks on Thursday and they immediately moved to the top of his list. He also had an offer from Rutgers.

Last season Middleton caught 25 passes for 350 yards and two touchdowns.

Middleton told Scout.com that after seeing him in camp last week, the Gamecocks were not sure how he would fit into their offense. And he said, he, too, had a change of heart. Middleton said he's looking at several other schools like Akron, Maryland and Rutgers.

From the Louisville site. Middleton talks about how after going to camp at South Carolina, he realized that he wanted to open things back up. He has an offer from Rutgers, and is also looking at Louisville, Arkansas, Maryland, Mississippi State and Indiana. He plans to take visits to some of those schools over the summer.

Kell tight end Will Middleton has backed off his verbal commitment to South Carolina and now considers Rutgers, Indiana and Louisville his top three.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pound senior committed to the Gamecocks in early May, then de-committed in mid-June, deciding to look at other schools.

“I just made my decision too soon,” Middleton said. “I’d really just like have more time to think about my options. There’s a lot to think about when you’re looking at these schools.”

The Gamecocks had already landed the commitment of one other tight end prospect in Justice Cunningham out of South Carolina. Middleton will continue to consider South Carolina, Mississippi State and Auburn through the process. Last season, he caught 25 passes for 350 yards and two scores for the Longhorns.
