Logan is a very instinctive and reliable safety. He has great size at 6 foot two and nearly two hundred pounds. Shows good athleticism in the openfield. Run support is sound when playing either free or strong safety. Most of the time takes proper angles and rarely over runs or miss judges speed of the ball carrier. Does a great job with his hands of shedding blockers; fights to get to ball carrier. Drives the legs and wraps the arms when making tackles. Good tackler also in the openfield but has a slight tendency to arm tackle. Stronger running backs and receivers can break arm tackles; needs to concentrate on good high tackling technique when the last defender downfield. Great make-up speed; can run the offensive man down even if offender breaks contain. Can change direction without losing speed or body control; good hips. Shows aggressiveness at the goal line. Attacks the line of scrimmage; has a linebacker type attitude in short yardage situations. Intelligent defender versus the pass. Good route recognition and has quick break on the pass. Times the interception or break-up to perfection. Very instinctive and locks up with the man in his zone taking away the easy completion. Logan can play both free and strong safety but I really like his aggressiveness at strong.

From the Washington site. Logan was at the Washington spring game, and came away impressed with what he saw. His brother plays at Washington, and Logan talks about how fun it would be to play together. Cal has offered, and Alex says he will take a few more visits before making a choice.

by Jason Jewell, May 13, 2008 at 12:25am ET
Colorado's top safety prospect Alex Logan from Denver (Co.) Mullen has informed Scout.com that he has received a new scholarship offer.
Logan's father tells us, "Alex just received a phone call from Coach Barney Cotton
from the University of Nebraska offering him a football scholarship."
That now puts Logan (6-3 200) up to nine total offers. They are from Nebraska, Colorado State, Texas Tech, Washington, Wyoming, Boise State, Stanford, Washington State and Vanderbilt.

The only schools that Alex Logan has actually visited thus far are Colorado and Washington and both have offered. "Colorado is only about 45 minutes away, but distance isn't really a factor," Logan stated. "My parents said I can go out-of-state, so that's not an issue. I really like the defensive back coach Greg Brown (at Colorado). He's a real genuine person and has coached some of the best..."

By B Flenory. Logan hasn't narrowed his list and is still talking with his parents about where he will set up visits. Academics, location, how he fits in with the team and coaches and the future of the team will all be important factors.

By A Wallace. Oregon has offered. Logan hopes to narrow his list soon and says that distance will not be a factor. While he hasn't eliminated anyone yet, Nebraska, Colorado, Washington and Oregon all look to make his cut.
