TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Tuesday, August 21, 2007
Montour senior linebacker Christian Wilson said he's known for some time where he wanted to play college football.
But at 3 p.m. Monday, the 6-foot-3, 235-pound, four-star prospect made the decision official, verbally committing to Michigan.
With more than 50 scholarship offers, Wilson chose the Wolverines over Rutgers.
"There was a certain moment (yesterday) when I felt real comfortable going there," Wilson said. "It just felt right, and that feeling stayed there.

Class AAA: Five players to watch
Quote:
CHRISTIAN WILSON -- MONTOUR RB-LB
Christian Wilson hopes to turn the football field into his own proving ground this season. Wilson, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound senior running back-linebacker, was one of the most heavily recruited players in Western Pennsylvania, with 50 scholarship offers. Last week, he made a verbal commitment to Michigan, choosing the Wolverines over Rutgers. Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Clemson were his other finalists. But Wilson has heard the critics who say he is overrated and wonder why he is recruited so heavily. "A lot of people have said how did Christian get all those offers and he's not good enough to get all of them," Wilson said. "Basically, I just want to prove to people, and the teams we play, that there are reasons why I got all those offers. I want to prove it's not just a fluke and that colleges didn't watch the wrong tape." Wilson hopes to run for more yards than the 920 he gained on 159 carries last year. He wants to make more tackles than the 51 of a year ago. And he wants to win more. In his three years on the varsity, Montour is 5-22. "Stats aren't everything to me," Wilson said. "We have to win." Wilson will certainly get the opportunity to carry the ball often.
"We're not going to be like the pass-happy teams I've coached in the past," said Montour coach Lou Cerro. Last year was the first time in Wilson's career he played linebacker. "He's motivated to do well this year because he still thinks he has something to prove," Cerro said. "He feels he flew under the radar last year, which is understandable. You need to win some games to be recognized."

High School Notebook: Recruiters zero in on Michigan slump
Thursday, September 13, 2007
By Mike White, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
College football recruiters have been known to use any piece of information to get an edge with a high school player. Some of them are trying to use Michigan's bad start to help with the recruitment of Montour High School player Christian Wilson.
Wilson, a senior running back/linebacker, made a verbal commitment to Michigan last month. But that hasn't stopped other schools from calling him recently. And the Wolverines' woes definitely come up in the conversation.
Wilson didn't want to say what colleges have called, but said: "Even though I'm committed, coaches aren't going to give up. It doesn't help that Michigan has lost two in a row."
"Some of the coaches will just say, 'Hey, if something goes wrong at Michigan, you always have a scholarship here.' They tell me that [Michigan coach] Lloyd Carr might resign. They don't make fun of Michigan, but they just say some things."
Wilson said he is solid with his commitment to Michigan, but added, "If their coaching staff goes, I'll have to see what's going on."

Montour rallies, remains unbeaten
Quote:
Saturday, September 22, 2007
By Colin Dunlap, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
The C-Train, that's what Montour coach Lou Cerro likes to call it -- and when it gets rumbling, when it roars through the night like a gigantic Norfolk Southern locomotive, it becomes virtually impossible to stop.
Senior running back Christian Wilson, all 6-foot-4, 235 pounds of him, is that aforementioned C-Train personified.
And last night in a huge WPIAL Class AAA Parkway Conference matchup at Taggart Stadium, Wilson led the Post-Gazette's No. 4-ranked Spartans (4-0, 2-0) to a 28-20 come-from-behind win against New Castle (3-1, 1-1) as he chugged for four touchdowns and 126 yards on 22 carries.

Montour blows out Blackhawk - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
Quote:
By Tricia Lafferty
TRIBUNE-REVIEW
Saturday, October 20, 2007
Montour running back Christian Wilson got word that Blackhawk students were sporting T-shirts with a picture of his face and an X through it.
That served as motivation for Wilson, who rushed 144 yards and three touchdowns to help No. 1 Montour (8-0, 5-0) defeat visiting No. 6 Blackhawk, 35-7, on Friday night.

More Michigan recruiting
Look for Montour running back/linebacker Christian Wilson to possibly open his recruiting again. He had made a verbal commitment to Michigan in August. But Wilson said last week he would open his recruiting if a coaching change occurred at Michigan.

Christian says he will take four visits before making a final decision, but he does consider his Michigan commitment still strong. Boston College, North Carolina, Michigan State, Rutgers, and Virginia are being considered.
