From GBW...talks about how he is still very high on Michigan despite the 1-2 start. Has eliminated Syracuse and is only considering UM, Virginia and WVU. Making an official to UM for the OSU game and possibly unofficially this weekend for the PSU game.

High School Football Notebook: Saddler's returns a kick for Gateway
Monday, September 24, 2007
By Mike White, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Gateway's Cam Saddler is getting close to a national record, but it's questionable if he will get many more chances to reach the mark.
Saddler, a senior, returned two kickoffs for touchdowns Friday against Norwin to give him seven for his career. He had five last year.
According to the National Federation of State High School Associations, the national record for most kickoff returns for touchdowns in a career is nine, set by Trevor Mote of Kingman, Ariz., from 1994-96.

From the UVA site...says missing the UVA trip has nothing to do with how the Cavs stand with him. Still favors Virginia, West Virginia and Michigan.

From the UVA site...names his four finalists as Virginia, West Virginia, Pitt and Michigan and talks about how Pitt got back in the race. Visiting Virginia on the weekend of November 3, Michigan on the weekend of November 18 and West Virginia on the weekend of December 1. May not take an official to Pitt since he has been there so many times.

Saddler scores 5 TDs in Gateway rout - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
Quote:
By Pat Mitsch
FOR THE VALLEY NEWS DISPATCH
Saturday, October 20, 2007
After two penalties negated Gateway touchdowns early in the first half -- and with the only Gators score coming on a safety -- Fox Chapel was lucky the score wasn't 16-0 Gateway after the first five minutes.
It was after the first quarter, though.
And it was 50-0 at halftime.
Cameron Saddler scored first on a 12-yard pass from Robert Kalkstine, then took it himself on a 74-yard punt return to pace the No. 3 Gators to a 57-7 rout at Fox Chapel in a Quad East Conference game.

For the record -- not
Gateway's Cam Saddler took the opening kickoff against Fox Chapel Friday and returned it 95 yards for a touchdown. It was the eighth time Saddler returned a kickoff for a touchdown, which tied a national record.
After getting into the end zone, Saddler headed for the sideline, clutching the ball he was going to keep for a souvenir. Then he saw a yellow flag on the field. The play was called back for a block in the back.
"That record would've made for the article of the year, wouldn't it?" Saddler said. "That would've got someone a Pulitzer Prize.
"After the penalty, I just said, 'That's it. I quit.' No one is going to kick the ball to me after this."
Fox Chapel actually didn't kick the ball to Saddler. He had moved up to about the 30-yard line, anticipating a squib kick. Saddler said Fox Chapel kicked it over his head and he went and retrieved the ball at the 5.
Later in the game, Fox Chapel made the mistake of punting the ball twice to Saddler. He returned the punts 77 and 75 yards for touchdowns. That gave him 10 returns for touchdowns in the past two seasons -- seven on kickoffs and three on punts.

WPIAL Class AAAA: Gateway survives USC, 32-20
Gateway's Cameron Saddler rushes for 190 yards and two touchdowns, but his interception in the third quarter turns the game's momentum and pushes the Gators into the semifinals
Saturday, November 10, 2007
By Mike White, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Lake Fong / Post-Gazette
Gateway running back Cameron Saddler runs for extra yardage as Upper St. Clair's Steve Lias closes in during the first half of their WPIAL AAAA quarterfinal game at North Allegheny High School last night. (11/09/2007)
West Virginia football coach Rich Rodriguez was on the field before the game, exchanging pleasantries with coaches from both Gateway and Upper St. Clair. Under NCAA rules, Rodriguez couldn't talk to the team's players.
But that didn't stop Gateway's Cam Saddler from saying a few things to Rodriguez. During pregame warmups, Saddler, a kid never at a loss for words, inched his way toward Rodriguez at the 50-yard line and bounced on his toes back and forth in front of the college coach while delivering a message.
"He didn't talk to me," Saddler said. "But I told him, 'Rich, you go in that concession stand and get yourself a big hot cocoa, some popcorn and some potato chips, because I'm about to put on a show.'"
Saddler was true to his word, even if it was a late-starting show.
