Friendly is latest team hit with forfeits

Friendly High School's undefeated football team learned this week that it will face an undetermined number of forfeits, as it becomes the latest county team penalized for allegedly using an ineligible player.

Forfeits could seriously jeopardize Friendly's opportunity to return to the playoffs, which are scheduled to begin in two weeks. Friendly's coaching staff said it had all the required paperwork turned in to Hawkins' office prior to the start of the season.

‘‘The emotions are always going to be crazy with Friendly-Gwynn Park, regardless of the score,” said Friendly senior tailback⁄safety Lamaar Thomas (Ohio State). ‘‘We lost to them in my 10th-grade year. But this is much different. This is my senior game, my last game here. It hurts, it hurts real bad.”
