Big names in East may be ready to commit - USATODAY.com

Fort Washington (Md.) Friendly athlete Lamaar Thomas is taking an official visit to Ohio State on Sept. 21, and the Buckeyes are the team to beat. If he doesn't commit on his trip, he'll visit Illinois the following weekend. Maryland is a dark horse, but a commitment on his first official trip to Columbus would not be a shocker.

Lamaar says he could see himself playing WR at tOSU, but right now, tOSU, Illinois, and Maryland are tied. He will still visit Illinois.

More of the same...enjoyed both visits, but tOSU stood out because of the Brew Crew being there.
BG $
More of the same...Lamaar says the RB/WR decision is a heavy piece of the puzzle for him. He also heard from Terrelle Pryor while in Columbus.

Full weekend for Friendly duo: Fort Washington (Md.) Friendly dominated Crossland 36-0 this past weekend and athlete Lamaar Thomas rushed nine times for 122 yards. Thomas took an official visit to Ohio State following the game and came away as impressed as he expected. The Buckeyes are the team to beat but Thomas will take an official visit to Illinois this weekend and might trip to Tennessee before making a decision in October.

Lamaar enjoyed his Illinois visit and says all three schools are tied. He still says the WR/RB issue is a sticking point for him, but he will decide in a few weeks.

By Farrell...more on the Illinois trip. Will likely make a decision in the next few weeks but will take more trips if he can't make up his mind.

Having now visited his three finalists (Maryland, Ohio State, Illinois), is Lamaar Thomas getting ready to make his decision? How good should Terps fans feel about their chances? Could he have a Steve Slaton-type impact on whatever team he chooses?
He'll decide within the next three weeks. It's been a whirlwind tour since the beginning of the summer and he wants to relax a bit and focus on his season and taking the SAT this weekend. Right now, Ohio State seems to have the upper hand, but Maryland is most definitely in the mix. I'd be very surprised if he ends up anywhere but OSU or Maryland. He certainly has Slaton-like speed, and I do think he'll likely be a star on the college level.

Lamaar says he will likely announce next week on ESPNU and the WR/RB decision is not a major factor now. He speaks with Mike Brewster every day.

baltimoresun.com - Recruiting Report: Friendly's Thomas set to choose

Friendly's Thomas set to choose
It's decision time for Fort Washington Friendly running back/wide receiver Lamaar Thomas.
As reported yesterday by TurtleSportsReport.com, Thomas is set to pick between Illinois, Maryland and Ohio State tomorrow. The announcement is scheduled to be televised on ESPNU during halftime of the Arkansas Pine-Bluff at Alabama A&M football game. The game starts at 7:30 p.m.
I caught up with Friendly head coach George Earley yesterday. Here’s what he had to say about Thomas’ recruitment.
It’s been reported that Maryland and Illinois like Thomas at running back, while Ohio State sees him at wide receiver. Does he have a preference to which position he’ll play in college?
“Illinois might use him at receiver also. I don’t know exactly where each of the coaches wants him. It just won’t be on defense.
“Lamaar has expressed that he just wants to get on the field. He’s going to play. That’s going to be big factor.”

Lamaar Thomas has ended all the speculation by selecting to attend the Ohio State University over Illinois and Maryland during a live press conference that was held at halftime of the Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Alabama A&M game. Thomas called Scout.com ahead of time to give us the scoop.
