Josh says he will visit WVU and has no idea what to expect. He raves about FSU and says the Noles and tOSU lead with WVU in a distant third. Pitt is no longer being considered.

Coach Tressel and Bollman spent the entire day with Josh and then had their in-home visit with his mother. Josh's coach still thinks it is between tOSU and WVU with the Buckeyes having a slight lead right now.

Jenkins may see cohorts at WVU | Parkersburg News and Sentinel
Quote:
PARKERSBURG — After spending Thursday with Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel, Parkersburg High School all-America lineman Josh Jenkins left Friday for his official visit to West Virginia University, which will take place this weekend.
Jenkins remains the subject of a red-hot recruiting battle with at least three schools —WVU, Ohio State and Florida State —still in the running for the services of the 6-foot-5, 305-pound standout, who recently participated in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.
If Jenkins ends up casting his lot with the Mountaineers, he may find himself being coached by one of his brothers and may be blocking for one of his East teammates at the All-American Bowl.
Jenkins brother, Ohio University senior Paul Johnson, who is completing an internship that will qualify him for graduation, has interviewed with WVU regarding a graduate assistant position for which he had applied several months ago.
When Jenkins played at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, he was extremely impressed with his East teammate, quarterback Star Jackson of Lake Worth, Fla., who came out on top in several quarterback drills at the all-star game. Jackson, who was said to be leaning to Alabama, now appears to have put West Virginia at the top of his list. His timing couldn’t be better with Pat White having one more year in Morgantown, after which the signal-calling position will be up for grabs.

Jenkins concludes visit to West Virginia | Parkersburg News and Sentinel
Quote:
Jenkins returned to Parkersburg after making his official visit to WVU Friday through Sunday. While in Morgantown, he spent a great deal of time with WVU all-American offensive lineman Ryan Stanchek, who served as Jenkins’ host for the weekend visit.
Jenkins also spent a great deal of time with recently-hired offensive line coach Dave Johnson, who is planning a followup trip to Parkersburg this Friday. Johnson was scheduled to undergo hip replacement surgery on Monday.
“He and Josh spent a great deal of time together,’’ said Parkersburg High School assistant coach Mark McCullough, who has guided Jenkins through the recruiting process. A process that began with virtually every major football program in America seeking Jenkins’ services and now has come down to three.

The visit to Morgantown capped off quite a week for Jenkins. Last Monday, WVU head coach Bill Stewart and recruiting coordinator John ‘Doc’ Holliday visited Parkersburg High School and the Jenkins household. Three days later, Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel came to town and spent virtually the entire day with Jenkins, first watching his younger brother play in a junior high basketball game, then sitting with Jenkins at Parkersburg High’s game later that night.
This week, in addition to Johnson’s followup visit on Friday, Jenkins and the Parkersburg High football program will welcome a visit from Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden, who will be here on Thursday. Bowden, a former WVU head coach, is expected to be accompanied by West Virginia native and offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher, who nearly became WVU’s coach before deciding to remain at Florida State, where he already has been named as Bowden’s successor.
Jenkins’ brother, Paul Johnson —who is about to receive his degree from Ohio University —has applied to become a graduate assistant at WVU. He is still waiting to be interviewed.

Jenkins is in possession of Golden Ticket | Parkersburg News and Sentinel
Quote:
POSTED: January 27, 2008
PARKERSBURG - If you have watched the movie Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, then you already know the value of a Golden Ticket.
It not only entitles you to free admission to the candy store, but it may also set you up for life in the form of an everlasting gobstopper.
Parkersburg High School all-America lineman Josh Jenkins is one of the lucky possessors of a Golden Ticket, although in Jenkins case luck has had little to do with it. Rather it’s his size, speed, strength, athletic ability and determination that have virtually every major college football program in America craving his services.

By A. Jardy at the Ohio State site. Jenkins coach says Josh is down to Ohio State, West Virginia, and Florida State, with Ohio State and West Virginia leading. He adds that while Josh likes FSU, the distance is a big issue.

Josh Jenkins remains quiet on college plans
by Derek Taylor
Daily Mail sportswriter
The last time a collegiate recruit got this much attention in West Virginia, Sport Magazine was following Brett Nelson around, waiting for the decision on where he would play his collegiate basketball.
Similar to before the St. Albans graduate's 1998 announcement that he would play for Billy Donovan at the University of Florida, no one knows what to expect when Parkersburg High offensive lineman Josh Jenkins reveals his collegiate plans on national signing day.
A signing ceremony is scheduled for the Big Red field house for 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
Jenkins has narrowed his list of potential suitors to two or three schools, depending on which recruiting source is making the report. West Virginia, Ohio State and Florida State all appear to be in the mix. Web sites such as BuckeyeSports.com have as recently as this week reported that Florida State has been dropped from the list. However, Florida State Web sites as well as The Tallahassee Democrat report otherwise.
An FSU recruiting report in Monday's edition of The Democrat said that Jenkins was one of two out-of-state recruits Coach Bobby Bowden's regime was "chasing to the end."
As that inevitable end approaches, Jenkins has become quieter about his leanings even than in recent months. The guard stopped taking phone calls to his cell phone regarding the matter before the Big Reds won their second straight Class AAA championship on Dec. 1.
"He's playing it closer to the vest than ever before," said Parkersburg assistant Coach Mark McCullough on Monday. "The last couple of weeks have been pretty hard on him. He'll be glad when it's all over."
