The 6-foot-2, 260-pound Savage said he’s favoring UT and Auburn while still considering South Carolina.

He plans to take an official visit to South Carolina this weekend. He visited Auburn on Jan. 11.

Savage said UT has grown on him during the recruiting process, which has helped the Vols pull even with Auburn.

Savage said he had originally planned to make his choice on National Signing Day on Feb. 6, but he now hopes to make his decision next week after he visits South Carolina.

Quote:
One of Tuberville's most famous full-court presses came seven years ago when seven coaches showed up at Carnell Williams' door. The Auburn coaching staff was back at it again Wednesday when Tuberville and all four defensive assistants showed up to visit lineman Jomarcus Savage of Huntsville's J.O. Johnson.

That show of force impressed Savage, who wasn't even in his teens when Tuberville and his staff recruited that certain running back from Etowah.

Auburn still has a lot of work to do for Savage. His father played for Tennessee defensive coordinator John Chavis at Alabama A&M, and the signing day battle seems to be between the Vols and Auburn, though he's visiting South Carolina this weekend.

From the Auburn site. Savage is down to Auburn and Tennessee, and will make his choice Wednesday morning at his school. He says his mind is made up, but he won't make that public until then.

Savage picks Auburn over Vols : Football Recruiting : GoVolsXtra.com

Quote:
Defensive end Jomarcus Savage from J.O. Johnson High School in Huntsville, Ala., has committed to play football for Auburn.

The 6-foot-2, 260-pound Savage made his announce at his high school Wednesday morning.

“It was just the overall atmosphere,” he said. “When I went down there I felt like I didn’t even step out of my own house.”

Savage chose Auburn over Tennessee. He said it was difficult turning down the Vols’ coaching staff.

“That was really tough knowing that all the hard work they put in recruiting me and the relationship I had built with the coaches,” Savage said. “That was the really hard part, turning them down.”
