Committed to Purdue over offers from North Carolina, Duke, Indiana and others.

BoilerStation - Purdue University News, Sports, and Information from the Journal and Courier.

Quote:
Ezenwa is a 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker from North Cobb High School in Kennesaw, Ga., while Nelson is a 5-10, 195-pound defensive back from Destrehan, La.

"It was a good visit," Ezenwa said. "I saw the campus, the stadium and the football facilities. I really liked the coaching staff and the players were cool."
Quote:
Ezenwa had bounced around several positions early in his prep career before settling in at linebacker as a senior, when he finished with 80 tackles, including 13 for loss and 5.5 sacks.

He was a two-time county defensive player of the year and was voted most valuable linebacker on his team as a senior.

Ezenwa, who called to commit to Purdue after his flight home had landed at the Atlanta airport, had offers from Duke, North Carolina, Western Kentucky and a few small schools.

"I picked Purdue because of its great mix of academics and athletics," said Ezenwa, who added that the Boilermakers didn't start recruiting him until about two weeks ago.

He has a 3.1 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and scored a 1,560 on his SAT test. He plans on majoring in engineering.

"And I love Big Ten football. I used to be a big Michigan fan and I always watched Big Ten football, so I'm familiar with Purdue. They have a good program and they win."
