East Orange, New Jersey defensive back Akeem Cunningham has committed to Vanderbilt according to a report in the Nashville City Paper.

Cunningham was heavily recruited by BCS schools such as Texas A&M, Colorado, Rutgers and Kansas State. However, according to City Paper, he wasn't offered because had not taken the SAT. Recruiting Analyst Matt Alkire of Scout.com commented on Cunningham's play back in October, "Cunningham is used all over the field as his athleticism allows him to play many positions, so last season he played quarterback, running back, wide receiver, cornerback and safety. He threw for 600 yards and eight touchdowns to only two interceptions, ran for 212 yards and four touchdowns and added 175 yards and another two scores as a receiver. On defense, Cunningham registered 30 tackles, broke up six passes and intercepted a pass. He also forced two fumbles. This was in only six games of playing time."
