Womble Set For Trip East
By Phil Kornblut
RB Jamal Womble (5-11 221) of Sierra Vista, AZ will make a trip to the East Coast later this month including a stop at USC, and he's bringing a friend with him. Womble will visit USC July 16th or 17th and will be joined on the visit by teammate Jake Muasau (6-1 212) who plays linebacker, defensive back and receiver. "South Carolina is interested in him and is trying to get some film, and he's interested in South Carolina," Womble said. Womble will begin his trip with stops on Tobacco Road...North Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest and Duke. LSU has been coming on with him of late and could offer soon. But Womble remains firm with his top two teams right now. "South Carolina and Nebraska are still at the top, a little bit above the rest," he said. "I want to be comfortable with the surroundings. I have to like my position coach. With Nebraska and South Carolina I feel like I will have a pretty good relationship with the position coach at both."

Womble To Visit USC Tuesday
By Phil Kornblut
RB Jamal Womble (5-11 221) of Sierra Vista, AZ will make an unofficial visit to USC Tuesday. He will be joined by his teammate, ATH Jake Muasua (6-1 212), who also is drawing interest from the Gamecocks. Womble attended a one day camp at Wake Forest Sunday and is looking forward to his first visit to a SEC school. "I'm looking for just something different," Womble said. "I'm not looking at anything specific. I'm just going to go and see everything and compare it to other places I've seen." Womble said Gamecock running backs coach Robert Gillespie will greet him around 9:00 AM and later in the day he'll visit with head coach Steve Spurrier. After visiting USC, Womble will return to North Carolina to visit with family. Later in the week he will attend camps at Duke and North Carolina. Womble has been strong on USC as well as Nebraska and those two have been at the top of his list.

Sierra Vista Herald | The Bisbee Daily Review
Quote:
On his first run from scrimmage, Buena senior tailback Jamal Womble’s powerful legs shredded the meager arm tackles of the Mustang defense on his way to an 80-yard touchdown that put Buena on top 6-0, 17 seconds into the game.
“We said, ‘See that big kid No. 5, keep chasing him and keep hitting him,’ ” Dobson head coach Tom Demassa said of his approach to stopping Womble and the Buena offense. “We focused on him and he still broke that play on the second play of the game.”
Later, Womble had a catch of 50 yards and a touchdown run of 53 yards called back by penalties. Still, it was a banner night for the heavily recruited Colt tailback as he finished with 200 yards on 15 carries.
