If the Bucks were to draft DeRozan, I'd streak down Wisconsin Avenue in red and green body paint. In all seriousness, I think he'll end up being the best player from this draft when it's all said and done. But since I'm used to disappointment by now from this franchise when it comes to the draft (I loathed Yi and Joe "Potsie" Alexander more than any other prospects before the Bucks' picked them), I'll assume they'll draft somebody more like Jordan Hill. A big uncoordinated gawky bird with low basketball I.Q and a weak skill-set.
My mock would be:
1. Blake Griffin - LAC
2. Ricky Rubio - Sacto (trade)
3. Hasheem Thabeet - OKC
4. James Harden - Memphis
5. Stephen Curry - Miniscrotum
6. Tyreke Evans - Miniscrotum (interchangeable selections of course)
7. Brandon Jennings - Golden State
8. Jonny Flynn - New York
9. Demar DeRozan - Toronto
10. Jordan Hill - Milwaukee
I might project Jrue Holiday to the Bucks if I weren't so used to disappointment. I'm not the highest on him, but I think he'll be solid in the league.
My own personal prospect rankings would be:
1. Demar Derozan
2. Blake Griffin
3. James Harden
4. Ricky Rubio
5. Stephen Curry
6. Earl Clark
7. Jonny Flynn
8. Austin Daye
9. Terrence Williams
10. Tywon Lawson
11. Hasheem Thabeet
12. Jrue Holiday
13. Omri Casspi
14. Jerel McNeal
15. Eric Maynor
HM: Hansbrough, Budinger, Teague, Beaubois, Henderson, Summers, Claver
Busts: BJ Mullens (am I right, that guy was presenceless while he was at OSU), Brandon Jennings, James Johnson, Jordan Hill, Sam Young
N/A: Tyreke Evans (ball dominator type who may put up statistics and be perceived as good early in his career but later gets exposed as teams that he leaves improves....kind of like a Corey Maggette, Ricky Davis, Larry Hughes, Al Thornton, AI, or Stephon Marbury)
This is a very weak class overall. I concur with fellow draftniks who've also made that assertion. I said that after watching the high school All American games in 2008. Those players on average weren't nearly as advanced as the members of the '07 and '06 classes. Which made for a lackluster year in college basketball and upperclassman leadership reign supreme.
