Defensive lineman Beau Allen (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) is considering a half dozen scholarship offers. The 6-foot-3, 295-pounder has been a varsity starter since his freshman season when he played nose guard.Allen played both nose guard and defensive end during his sophomore season. He played defensive tackle and fullback during his junior season and made 59 tackles, including three sacks. Allen had 11 tackles for loss and forced three fumbles.
He has scholarship offers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Stanford, Nebraska and Vanderbilt.
"I think a few other schools are close to offering, like maybe UCLA, Northwestern and Michigan State," Allen said. "I'm looking at all the schools that have offered."
Allen has already visited Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Nebraska.
"I want to head out to Stanford this summer," he said. "I want to see and evaluate all the schools that have offered. I'll narrow things down from there."
Allen has no plans to rush into a college selection. He won't take the recruiting process to signing day, but he wants to take his time and thoroughly investigate his options.
"I think I'll pull the trigger after my senior (football) season," Allen said. "I'm thinking I'll decide in late November or December. I'll definitely take official visits. I plan to take all five visits."

"I didn't think it was a big deal, the de-commitment," former Gopher verbal David Gilreath said. "I think this was the best decision of my life."

"(The University of Minnesota) didn't really compare," UW Kicker Taylor Mehlhaff said. "I loved the atmosphere here. It was pretty easy to cross (Minnesota) off the list. I wanted to play at the highest level possible but I also wanted to have that college atmosphere."
