Highly-sought Adrian White to Horns
ESPNU 150 Watch List cornerback Adrian White has become 20th commitment in the 2010 recruiting class for Texas. White picked the Longhorns over Florida, Southern California, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Tennessee, LSU, California, Oklahoma and Nebraska, among many others.
He told ESPN Austin radio, "I love Texas, the coaches, the players, Mack (Brown), everything. I went down there for a camp for the first time and had lunch with the coaches and the coaches talked to me. Coach (Duane) Akina he was real cool and greeted my whole family," affiliate Web site InsideTexas.com reports.
ESPN's Billy Tucker added, "While our positional rankings won't be released until late this summer, expect White to be ranked toward the top of this year's cornerback class.
"This ESPN 150 Watch List prospect is a very fluid, athletic and versatility defensive back for Texas power DeSoto high school. White really is the complete package when looking for a college corner. He'll need to add some size and upper-body strength to help play press-man at the next level but has great speed, hip-fluidity and ball skills coveted in a corner prospect. His coverage savvy and competitive nature are intangibles that are just impressive and sought-after. "
"The University of Texas is cleaning up as usual in early spring as White is the Longhorns' 20th commit (all residing from Texas) and 12th ESPNU 150 Watch List prospect. There has been an emphasis at the receiver position but White joins an impressive group of defensive players as well including well-rounded safety Ahmad Dixon (Waco, Texas/Midway), disruptive defensive tackle Taylor Bible (Denton, Texas/John H. Guyer) and versatile linebacker Aaron Benson (Cedar Hill, Texas)."
As a junior, the 5-foot-11, 170-pound standout had 57 tackles, eight pass breakups and a fumble recovery.
