PSL prospect blowing up; high school rivalries extending to college? | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press

Quote:
The Spartans are expected to have several prospects and commitments on campus this weekend, but the player who might be most anticipated is Denicos Allen of Hamilton, Ohio. Allen is a 6-foot-0, 210-pound prospect that could project at either strong safety or outside linebacker in college.
Allen has over 20 scholarships at his disposal, but has indicated that he is focused on the Michigan State Spartans and the Wisconsin Badgers. Allen’s High School Coach is the former prep coach of Spartan All-American running back Javon Ringer.
Allen is rated the #34 outside linebacker in the nation by Rivals.com and OhioVarsity.com rated him the 3rd best linebacker in Ohio for the class of 2009.
They classify Allen as being an “ultra-productive” player that physically is ready to compete at the next level right now. Allen has clocked a forty-yard dash time in 4.5 seconds and has bench pressed over 350-pounds.
A commitment from Allen would give the Spartans 4 of the top 40 players in Ohio for the class of 2009. That number is higher than any other Big Ten team except for the in-state Buckeyes. Head Coach Mark Dantonio’s strong Ohio ties have certainly paid off from a recruiting standpoint
